Hot Valentines Fitness Gifts

Its coming up again… the dreaded mushy Valentines…what to get your wife/husband/partner that has it all?  Well, if they are into fitness (and who isn’t???) you can’t go wrong with these top picks. We used to always advocate giving a few months of membership at your local gym (MV Fitness!), or a few sessions with a Personal Trainer, but sometimes those gifts are hard to give- they usually involve a little card or paper certificate… not enough umph.  We polled some members, staff and some local celebrities to come up with the following ideas that are sure to be a big hit this holiday season and help a brother out.  You’re welcome.

  • Funky Leggings: From Lululemon, Athleta or Lucy, that are not only objects d’art, but are also long lasting and smell proof.  Nice bonus for those latte runs after the late run. (price range $65-$125)

  • Beautiful Water Bottle:  From S’well, Sigg, Earthlust, or many others that have gorgeous original designs that actually inspire you drink more water!  (price range: $18-$45)

  • Bento Jar: From Bentology, Bento Jars are a great way to tote good-for-you pre-portioned meals.  Chillier weather means craving fewer salads and more warm, comforting foods like soups, quinoa bowls, and roasted veggies. (price range $15- $20).

  • Fancy Headphones:  No more getting tangled up at the gym with sweatproof, water-resistant Beats Powerup 2 Wireless headphones ($200).  If wireless is not your preference, YurBuds Ironman Inspire Pro-Dry Mic, ($60) are a great deal and are super comfortable- these don’t fall out.  Club favorite!

  • Cute Gym Tote Bag:  Any of the following are sure to be a big hit and cause for much jealousy in the locker room: Adidas by Stella McCartney Sports Bag,  Kate Spade Nylon Leopard Lyla Weekender Herschel Supply Co. Strand Duffel Bag, Puma Fitness Lux Gym Bag (price range $65- $325)

  • Vegetable Spiralizer: The gluten-free, Paleo, and low-carb cooks in your life will all want a way to transform vegetables of all shapes, sizes and densities into “noodles”.   Here are the best of the best:  OXO Good Grips ($40) Paderno World Cuisine Tri-Blade Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer ($33.24) Procizion Vegetable Spiral Slicer ($18).  Bonus- you will probably get treated to a pretty awesome low carb meal at some point…

  • Foam Roller:  If you can afford the gift of massage, go for that as the number one option, but if there are a few fitness fans on your list and funds are running low, go for The Grid Mini Foam Roller from Trigger Point ($25) loosens tight muscles and helps prevent injuries; it’s a great tool after any workout.  Cool patterns and hot colors make this more of a fun gift than a boring tool!

  • Running Gloves:  Cooler temps bring on the need to keep extremities warm while running and 1.  Looking stylish, 2.  Being able to change songs or answer the phone, 3.  Occasionally wipe gross drips from your nose.  Solution:  Zensah Smart Running Gloves with Touch Screen Feature with a microsuede thumb nose wiper!  Try to top that… (price range $20-$30)

  • Fit Bit Camo:  Because those rubber Fit Bits are super ugly and somewhat annoying to see on your wife/girlfriend/sister/mom with anything but workout clothes, perfect cover up:  Tory Burch for Fitbit Metal Hinged Bracelet in gold, silver, or rose gold ($195).  Bonus- this kindof counts as jewelry!
